The Ministry of Power has plan to set up on its rooftop solar energy for their operation in their Head Quarters. They will disengage from using electricity from the national grid.

The solar energy system will cost them about $2.5 million to install.  With a 750-kilowatts (kW) daytime and 75kW night time generation capacity.

The consortium will be funding the solar energy installation project. The ministry will save huge sum from its shift from the grid power supply.

The pilot Power House hybrid solar project emanated from the The Ministry of Power, Works and Housing. This will ensure that there is a decentralized distribution of renewable energy source.

Every hand is already on deck as a matter of urgency to get the system ready and operational. The Ministry will provide an avenue for commercial guarantee to support its purchase and use of power supply from the system which will sell its excess load to the national grid.

The motive of the Ministry of Power is to make radical changes to the way it powers its operations and a fresh and modern approach to power generation and for the future of generating power in Nigeria.
